AICPA Presents Free Webcast: Taxes: The Start of Your Financial Plan

  • Don’t file and forget your tax return – use it to develop a financial plan

  • CPA financial planner will walk participants through step-by-step process

  • Free to attend and participate

The American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) wants to empower Americans to use the information in their tax return to develop a plan that will put them on the path to reach their financial goals. The AICPA’s Personal Financial Planning Section and 360 Degrees of Financial Literacy are offering a free consumer webcast on Thursday, April 25 from Noon to 1:00 PM ET where CPA financial planner Paula McMillan will teach Americans how they can use their own tax return to develop a well-rounded comprehensive financial plan.

Now that the 2018 tax-year filing deadline has passed, many Americans may be eager to put away their financial records. However, now is the perfect time to plan for the future while all the documents are readily available. In fact, according to a Harris Poll conducted on behalf of the AICPA, nearly eight in 10 affluent Americans said they would use the information on their tax return to guide their financial plans. This underscores the bridge between taxes and financial planning. And since tax impacts all areas of planning– retirement, risk management and investments, a tax return doubles as a roadmap to a more prosperous financial future. In it, Americans can find details of their cash flows, important investment information, insights to retirement planning and identify overlooked strategies to help them achieve their financial goals.

In this plain-English financial literacy webcast, listeners will learn:

  • How to use a tax return to provide a holistic view of your finances

  • How to design the lifestyle you want through tracking and monitoring spending/expenses

  • Important planning considerations for your estate, retirement, investments, insurance and taxes

  • And more …
